“Bhel- Making”

‘Bhel- Making Competition' for students of std I to IV was organized in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. Students made delicious bhel & also decorated it beautifully. The competition was judged by Mrs. Kulvinder Madne & Mrs. Asha Rai. All the teachers of primary section helped the students for the competition. INTER HOUSE SOLO DANCE COMPETITION

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School had organised an Inter House Solo Dance Competition on 12 th Sept 2013 in school premises for students of Std. I TO V in all 55 students participated.

Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi , Vice Principal Mrs. Mitalee Mukherjee , Supervisor Mrs. Asha Rai, Co-scholastic incharge teacher Mrs. Kulvinder Madne graced the occasion.

Science exhibition was organized in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School by the students of std VI to X. 50 models (static and Working) made by the students were displayed. Exhibition was judged by Mr. Tiwari of Central India Public School and winners were declared. “INTER HOUSE SOLO SINGING COMPETITION

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School had organised an Inter House Solo Singing Competition on 13 th Sept 2013 in school premises for students of Std. VI TO VIIIth. In all 36 Students participated.

School Election (2013-14)

On 6 th july ‘13, the school elections were held for Head Boy, Head Girl, Captains and Vice Captains. The High School teachers worked hard for the the success and fair election procedure. The elections were conducted smoothly.

Amit Pande was elected the Head Boy of the School, Nisha Kumar the Head Girl. The Red House Captain Ankit Rahate and Vice Captain Makrand Mool got elected by the students. The children from Blue house elected Abhishek Dongare as the Captain and Romesh Khobragade as the Vice Captain.Ketan Bagole and Yashraj Singh Ghatorode were elected as the Captain and Vice Captain of the Green House. The Principal Mrs.Archana Joshi congratulated the Teachers and Students.


HITAVADA TROPHIES

The Hitavada trophies were awarded to the toppers of Std. X CBSE 2012-13 of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. The trophies were awarded at the hands of Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi Ex-MLC and Secretary of Sikh Education Society and Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. The Secretary congratulated the toppers Diptesh Bhattacharya, Rohit Shamdasani, Kalpesh Borkar and appreciated the hard work of the staff members under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi.


DONATION BY SRI GURU HARKRISHAN PUBLIC SCHOOL

The students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School donated school bags, shoes, dresses and other school articles to Manav Seva Sanstha under Social Cause Club. Secretary of the Sikh Education Society Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi Ex MLC, Principal of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School Mrs. Archana Joshi handed over the boxes to Mr. Ashish Lobo founder President of the Organisation.

Mrs.Poonam Dodeja conducted the proceedings of the programme and the president Parminder Singh Ghotra, Secretary Komolika Mandal took initiative to encourage the students to donate for this generous cause.


INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The Investiture Ceremony of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School was held in the School Premises recently. The Ceremony was organised with all its grandeur for the installation of Head Boy- Amit Pande, Head Girl- Nisha Kumar, Captains and Vice Captains of various houses. Red house Captain- Aniket Rahate and Vice Captain- Makrand Mule. Blue house Captain - Abhishek Dongre, Blue house Vice Captain – Romesh Khobragade , Green house Captain – Ketan Bagde and Green House Vice Captain – Yashraj Ghatorde. The Chief Guests Sardar Parshan SinghJi Kalsi (Ex- MLC) - Secretary of Sikh Education Society, Sardar Gurbux SinghJi Lamba President of Sikh Education Society handed over the flags, sashes and badges. Sardar Parshan SinghJi Kalsi Enlightened the Students inspired them with his motivating speech and instructed them to perform their duties well. President Gurbux SinghJi Lamba congratulated the newly appointed office bearers. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi asked the students to take an oath for performing their duties well. Mrs. Sobiya Naz Patel conducted the proceedings and Miss Geeta Bedi proposed a vote of thanks.       


TREE PLANTATION DAY AT SRI GURU HARKRISHAN PUBLIC SCHOOL

‘ Go Green to make our Globe Green' was the motto of the ‘Eco Club' formed in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. The formation of Eco Club was formally announced by the Incharge – Teacher Mrs. Jyoti Gupta. As an important activity of this club ‘Tree Plantation Drive' was carried in the school. The main motto behind this was to create awareness among the students and make a clean, pollution- free environment and to instil love for the nature in the hearts of the students. Sardar Parshan Singh Kalsi Ex-MLC Secretary of the Sikh Education Society, President Sardar Gurbux Singh Lamba and Principal Mrs Archana Joshi started the ‘Tree Plantation Drive' and planted Saplings, Students and Teachers followed the trend. A new drive ‘Bachchon ki Phulwari' was announced in which students were encouraged to plant saplings and take care of them. The importance of planting trees was revealed through song and dance and finally the drive ended with the slogans raised by the students of Eco-Club.


VARIOUS CLUB FORMATION

It was a grand formal occasion in which various Clubs like Eco-Club, Heritage Club, Social Cause Club, Disaster Management Club, Health and Wellness Club, AEP Club, Science Club, etc were formed.

‘Eco-Club' was announced formally by The Incharge Teacher- Mrs. Jyoti Gupta. Saplings were planted by General Secretary Sardar Parshan SinghJi Kalsi (Ex-MLC), President Gurbux SinghJi Lamba and Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. Speeches and Songs were presented by the Students. A Dance based on the theme “Save Trees” was performed and Slogans on “Increasing Awareness about Conservation of Plants” were raised.

At the end of the function, an appeal was made by the Members of Eco-Club for the Protection of Plants and the students raised the Slogan “Go Green to make our Globe Green”.


INDEPENDENCE DAY 2013

67 th Independence Day was celebrated in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School to inculcate the feeling of patriotism amongst the students.The flag was hoisted at the hands of Secretary Sir Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi Ex-MLC and President sir Sardar Gurbux Singhji Lamba of the Sikh Education society. A patriotic song and dance was performed by the students to mark the occasion. Nisha Kumar, Head Girl and Yashraj Singh, Vice Captain of Green House delivered speeches very enthusiastically. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi guided the students through her speech, how to secure the future of India. Harshal Yadav topper of the session 2011 – 12 was awarded with a gold medal at the hands of Secretary sir Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi and President sir Sardar Gurbux Singhji Lamba. Certificates for 100% attendance were awarded to five students. Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi motivated the students through his speech and stressed upon good qualities and urged them to inculcate these values in their day to day lives. All the esteemed dignitaries of the Sikh Education Society graced the occasion.


INTER-HOUSE MENTAL MATH COMPETITION

Inter house mental Math Quiz Competition (2013-14) for Std. I, II and III was held in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School on 10 th June 2013. Competition was conducted in 3 rounds

1 st round – Spell the numbers.
2 nd round- Visual round
3 rd round- Rapid fire round.
The competition was conducted with the guidance and co-operation of Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi and was judged by Mrs Kamaljeet Kaur . Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi congratulated the students and in charge teachers Mrs. Mousumi Dasgupta and Mrs Deepali Lingayatwani.

The competition was judged by Ms. Geeta Bedi . The judgement was unbiased and on the basis of fair judgement the winners of the competition were declared.

SRI GURU HARKRISHAN MAHARAJ JAYANTI

Birthday of Guru Harkrishan Maharaji was celebrated with religious fervour and devotion in Gurudwara ‘Gyan Prakash'. To inculcate the religious values and roots of spirituality amongst the students this day is specially revered every year. Religious songs (Shabads) were presented by the students under the guidance of Music Teacher (Sangita Bhattacharjee) and Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. Sweets were distributed to all the students, staff members of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School and Guru Nanak High School. Secretary- Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi (Ex- MLC), President Gurbux Singhji Lamba were the prominent members present at the occasion. Sardar Parshan Singh Kalsi enlightened the students with his motivating speech based on the teachings of Guru Harkrishan Maharaj.

August 5 2013 an Inter House Solo Singing Competition was organised in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. Students from Std.III, IV and V participated in this competition. Annual Cultural Day
The Annual Cultural Day was celebrated in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School with great zeal and enthusiasm under the theme ‘Indian Dance Culture'. Honourable Mr. Avinash Pandeji Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) graced the occasion. The theme was depicted by the gorgeously attired students in various dance forms of different States of India.

The programme began with lighting the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest Avinash Pandeji, Secretary of the Sikh Education Society S. Parshan Singh Kalsi (Ex. MLC), President S. Gurbux Singh Lamba & Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. S. Parshan Singh Kalsi & S. Gurbux Singh Lamba honoured the Chief Guest with Memento, Shawl & Srifal. Other dignitaries of the Sikh Education Society S. Rajinder Singh Saini, S. Inderjeet Singh Baweja, S. Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi, S. Charanjit Singh Bagga, S. Prakash Singh Jabbal, S. Pritam Singh Bagga, S. Mahinder Singh, S. Surinder Singh Gulati and Principal Gurunanak High School Dr. Jaspal Singh Saluja, Headmistress of Primary Gursharan Kaur Lamba, Smita Das and Dr. U. K. Kalsi (Adv.) also graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
In his speech,Secretary S. Parshan Singh Kalsi focused on the selfless services rendered by Sikh Education Society in the field of Education. Avinash Pandeji in his speech praised the efforts and also the duties imparted by the members of Sikh Education Society. He especially focused on the contribution of S. Parshan Kalsi the founder Secretary of the Sikh Education Society who started his selfless services and has been working with same devotion, dedication & zeal till date. His main aim is to work for the upliftment of the common masses in the field of education.
Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi read the Annual report highlighting the never-ending achievement of the school in academic & non – academic fields. The proceedings were conducted by Mast. Yashraj Gatharode and Ms. Ritika Joshi along with the teacher incharge Mrs. Kulvinder K. Madne. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Simran Kaur. Mrs. Sangita Bhattacharya, Ms. Rakhi Gaikwad, Mr. Mahesh Kale and other staff. members worked hard for the programme.
            


Blessing Ceremony
‘Blessing Ceremony' for the outgoing batch of Std. X was organised by Sri Guru Harkrishan Singh Public School to bless the students to excel in Board exams with flying colours. Mementos & Gifts were given to the students. Titles were awarded to the students in different categories like Best disciplined student, Most obedient student, etc. to encourage the students. Lunch was served. Head girl of the School – Sahili Chauhan expressed her views & shared her expressions about her long journey in the school on behalf of all the students. It was indeed a sorrowful moment & all the eyes were filled with tears as the moment to bid farewell approached. It was indeed a remarkable occasion with feelings of joy & sorrow, as it was the time to separate. Parting is very sad but an unavoidable event of life. Principal Madam Archana Joshi & the entire staff thanked the present IX Std. for organizing such a wonderful show. Dimple Khilwani & Deepank Dongre anchored the programme.
           

Republic Day Celebration
66 th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great zeal & enthusiasm. The purpose behind this is to develop the feeling of patriotism. Flag was hoisted at the hands of Secretary S. Parshan Singh Kalsi (Ex. MLC) and President S. Gurbux Singh Lamba, in presence of Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi, other members of the Sikh Education Society, staff members and the students. Students presented patriotic songs, instrumental display etc. Secretary S. Parshan Singh Kalsi in his speech motivated the students & Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi also spoke on the occasion to inculcate the feelings of Nationalism & Patriotism in the students.
          
Christmas Celebration
The students and staff members of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School celebrated Christmas recently. Pre-primary students presented a skit on the life of Jesus. Dances and carol singing were the main attraction of the function, which were performed by middle and high school students. The school also distributed gifts to the students. Isha Charde, Gloria Murian, Kamal Bhagchandani organised the function under the guidance of Principal Archana Joshi. Great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan's   Birth anniversary was celebrated on the same day.

Annual Sports meet 2012
Annual Sports meet 2012 under the theme ‘Rukh Jana Nahi' was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm recently in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. The Secretary of the Sikh Education Society S. Parshan Singh Kalsi, the President S. Gurbux Singh Lamba, Principal Guru Nanak High School Dr. Jaspal Singh Saluja declared the meet open by burning the mashal and releasing the balloons. Various drills like Lazim, heart to heart, dumbbells were displayed by Std. VI, VII, VIII students. Mrs. Chaya Janbandhu and Mrs. Priya Bhure judged all the events and declared the Red house as overall champion in sports. Dr. Jaspal Singh Saluja in his inspiring speech appreciated the hardwork of the PTI's, staff members, students and Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi in her speech declared the motivating awards to the best sports person of the school Aniket Rahate and Nandita Ambade. Interschool Cricket Tournament
Bezonbagh Cricket Club Association has organised the Interschool Cricket Tournament U-16 where in the team of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School won the first match by 5 wickets played against St. Xavier High School. The second match also won by 5 wickets played against Nagsen High School played recently on Bezonbagh Cricket Club Association Ground. Thus the team has reached quarter final to be played very soon.

To commemorate 125 th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan on 22 nd Dec2012, ‘Numeromagic' A mathematics crossword puzzle competition was held at BRA's Mundle English Medium School, South Ambazari road Nagpur. Near about 30 schools participated in this competition. Mr. Sanjeevani Mishra of Std. VII and Mast. Anket Dindhwal of Std. VIII of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School won third prize in group II. Mrs. Archana Joshi, principal Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School congratulated both of them.

Annual sports day of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School's pre-primary wing was recently held in the school premises at Bezonbagh. Students presented drills which were followed by fancy races. Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners. There were races for parents. Certificates and Medals were awarded by the Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi. Pre-primary staff along with incharge Miss. Harjinder Kaur worked hard for the success of the Sport's day. Mrs. Gloria Murrian presented the vote of thanks and compered the programme.


150 th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda
I am glad to inform that as per the CBSE instructions 150 th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated in our school with zeal & enthusiasm. Various programmes were conducted by middle & high school children. Songs, skit & lecture on the principles of his teachings were depicted by the students. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi and all teachers worked hard for the programmes to create awareness amongst the children.

Mahatma Gandhi Rashtrabhasha Hindi Prachar Sanstha, Pune conducted the ‘Akhil Bhartiya Rashtrabhasha Hindi examination (Pratham)' in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. Rohit Shamdasani and Anushri Wankhede were awarded “Rashtriya Rashtrabhasha Puraskar” by the organisation. National Handwriting and colouring contest 2012
National Handwriting and colouring contest 2012 was organized by student development society (Pune). Competition held on 3.7.2012 for classes I to X. In 266 students participated from Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. For excellent colouring 4 student got Kala Gaurav Award. Their names are Prabhjyot Bagal – I-A, Avani Badge – III-A, Himani Saundarkar –VI-C, Aryan Gajwe – IX-A. Medal and certificates were given to these 4 students. Ideal Principal award, Ideal School award and Ideal Teacher award were also bagged by our school. All students got certificate of participation.


Eye donation and Keratoplasty Drawing competition
In this competition 6 students participated from classes I to IV. Disha Dadwani student of IV-B got consolation prize. She received certificate and trophy.

Salad and Flower arrangement competition was organized in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School recently. Students of class III to V participated in the competition. Bhel Making Competition was organised by the students of Std. I and Std. II in their classes. Children participated actively. Each child brought the delicious ingradients for bhel. With the help of the teacher they prepared the delicious bhel.

Rajaram Sitaram Dixit Library Drawing Competition 2012
Rajaram Sitaram Dixit Library Drawing Competition 2012 held for KG to Class X. Competition was organised at Rajaram Sitaram Dixit Library. Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Shri Krishna Nagar bagged first prize. Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School bagged second prize. 497 students participated in the competition from Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. 42 students from our school got prizes.


Children's day Celebration
Children's day was celebrated in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School with great zeal and enthusiasm. Children spoke on Chacha Nehru, the first PM of India and one of the staff members dressed as Chacha Nehru and delivered a speech on Chacha Nehru's life. There was air of gaiety all around. Bal Mela (Fete) was declared open at the hands of Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi for the students. Different types of stalls of eatables, games & songs were installed, children enjoyed the program very much by eating, playing & dancing. The programme was a great success.


Diwali Celebration
Diwali was celebrated with great religious fervour in school premises to inculcate religious & moral values in children. Students enacted as Ram, Laxman, Sita, Ravan and various other characters from Ramayana. Devotional songs were sung by the students. Speech was also given by students in English and Hindi to explain the importance of Diwali.

Drawing and painting competition was organized in the school premises on the occasion of Dussehra students from various classes participated in the competition and made beautiful drawing depicting the theme of Dussehra festival and showing the victory of good over evil. ‘Truth always triumphs'.


Science Quiz
A Science quiz was recently held in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School. The quiz was organized by Mrs. Surekha W., Ms. Anupreet Kalsi and Mrs. Kamaljeet B. Participants for the quiz belonged to all the houses from Std. VI, VII, VIII & IX. Two groups were made on the basis of level of classes. Group A consisted of participants from Std. 6 th & 7 th . Group B consisted of participants from Std. 8 th & 9 th . Mrs. Vinita Bansal and Mrs. Padma U. were the judges for the programme. Quiz consisted of the various rounds. Jayteerth Kulkarni (VI-A) , Anurag Shambhakar (VII-D) from Group A & Toshi Meshram (VIII – B), S. Unnati Rao ((IX-D) from Group B were announced as winners. As all the winners were from red house it was declared as ‘Winning House'. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi congratulated the winners with a note that “Hard work brings success”.


Vigilance Awareness Week
Vigilance Awareness Week was observed in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School recently as per the CBSE directions. Selected students of classes VI and VII prepared posters with slogans related to ‘Consumer Awareness'. The posters prepared were self – explanatory towards the theme of ‘Consumer Awareness'. Students of class VIII wrote essays on ‘Food Adulteration and Awareness'. However, students of classes 9 th and 10 th focused on the topic ‘Role of media in bringing Public Awareness'. Views were shared with all of us by our honoured guest Miss. Mamta Srivastava (Lecturer, Guru Nanak High School) on ‘Consumer Rights and its importance'. Lyrical performance was given by the students of Middle and High School on the theme of ‘Consumer Awareness'. Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi stressed on ‘Consumer Awareness' in her concluding speech. Incharge teachers Mrs. Simran Kaur and Mrs. Kulvinder Madne worked hard for the success of the programme.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School had organised an Inter House ‘ Solo Singing Competition' on 3 rd Nov 2012 in school premises. The judges were – Mr. Vinay Shukla (Bachelor in Music & renowned Play back singer) and Mrs. Rita Bhatnagar teacher. Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi was present on this occassion. Pre-Primary Activities
Toy Day
For toy day children brought various types of toys and played with each other's toy. They enjoyed a lot while playing with toys. It was a great fun for children.

Green Day
The children were dressed up with many different kinds of green dresses and they were asked to bring green vegetables in their tiffins and objects also. And then they were explained about how nutritious green vegetables are for us to keep us healthy and strong.

Rakhi Making
In Pre-primary, tiny tots made very beautiful Rakhi's with the help of teachers. In that the teacher explained them why we celebrate Raksha Bandhan. This is the day of brothers and sisters to love each other.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Maharaj Jayanti
On Sri Guru Harkrishan Maharaj Jayanti, there was Parth in the Gurudwara and boxes of sweets were distributed to the children and also to the teachers. Children along with their teachers visited the Gurudwara during the Parth.

English Rhymes Competition
Small kids of Pre-Primary had English Elocution. Two children from each class had participated in it. They performed very well infront of the teachers and the chief guests. They said the poems very confidently. In this way stage performance in them was built.

Janmashtami Celebration
On the occasion of Janmashtami, children were dressed up as Radha –Krishna with lots of ease and enthusiasm. They danced and sang few Krishna's songs. Verses of Krishna's birth was said by one of our staff members and matki phod was also organized by few children. The teachers sang Aarti of Lord Krishna by lighting diya and prashad was also distributed. In this way the auspicious occasion of Lord Krishna's Birthday (Janmashtami) was celebrated by our tiny tots.

Independence Day Celebration & Balloon Day
In Preprimary Section Independence day & Balloon day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. All the children came in the cultural dress. It doesn't matter where we are from, whether we are Marathi, Gujrati, Punjabi, Bengali, Christian or South Indian. This cultural variety becomes our strength, to make our country strong and stand united & that is why we proudly say, “We are Indians”.

Tree Plantation
This activity was mainly taken to make children learn how to save trees, they were asked to bring a small plant. The children were taken to the ground to plant the tree along with Principal Madam and few lines were told them how to save trees, how they are important in our daily life.

Blue Day
We celebrated Blue day on 7 th Sept'12. Some children wore blue dressed and came to school. The children were told about blue colour, Eg. Sky is blue and the Ocean is blue.

Leaf Tracing
It is fun for tiny tots during the leaf tracing activity. Children brought different shapes of leaves and dipped it in green water colour and traced on a plain drawing book. They did it with great curiosity and they were anxious to see how the shape of leaf was traced. This type of activity made the children active and they tried to put all their efforts for it.

Jungle Party
The motive was to teach the Importance of wild animals. Song based on the jungle (Jungle, Jungle Pata chala hai). All the children were dressed up with animal costume (fancy dress). Few lines were said about animals to save them. Information was given about the homes of animals.


Frog Jump Activity
All the children from Nursery to Sr. KG had participated in frog jumping race. The students were excited to jump in the form of frog. Teachers had explained the students how to jump and take part in the race. The children enjoyed a lot in the race.

Dance Competition
On the special occasion of Navratri, our tiny tots gave special performance (i.e. dance competition) which will remind us the glimpse of Navratri. The children were dressed up in their dance costumes. Every participant had given his best performance. In this way, during this little journey of life our charming kids had given us moment of joy and happiness.

Hindi Recitation Competition
Small kids of Preprimary had Hindi Elocution. Two children from each class had participated in it. They performed very well in front of the teachers and the chief guests. They said the poems very confidently with actions. In this way, the stage performance in them was built.

Diwali Celebration
For little kids, teachers organized the programme of Diwali celebration in the school premises. Each class was decorated with Rangoli in front of the door. Garland increased the decoration of the doors. All the children came in their traditional dresses. They brought chiwda and sweets with them. In the corridor Pooja of Maa Laxmi was organized. After Pooja, sweets were distributed. Aarti of Maa Laxmi was sung by one of the teachers. Children loved and enjoyed the occasion very much.

Children's Day
On the occasion of children's day, all the teachers of Preprimary gave their contribution to entertain little kids. Dance, skit and song were performed by teachers. Teachers explained to the children why do we celebrate children's day on 14 th November every year. All the children enjoyed the programme very much. At last sweets was distributed to the kids.

Pola & Fancydress

Orange Day
All the children were dressed in Orange and they were looking very beautiful and brought an Orange along with them and were explained that an orange contains Vitamin ‘C' which is good for health.

Sandwich Making
Sandwich making activity was organized on 29 th Nov'12. Some children brought bread, jam, sauce, butter, tomatoes, cucumber and green chutney to school. Then the teacher made the sandwich and distributed it to the children and she told them the importance of tomatoes, cucumber and sandwich.


Visit to ‘A Heritage Site' (A Report)
Indians have always proud of their cultural heritage and their feeling of reverence starts developing at the young age. Keeping in view this, CBSE has initiated ‘Heritage Education' in CBSE schools. As a part of this education students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School visited ‘Temples at Aadasa'. The objective of the visit was to create an awareness among young learners. The students were accompanied by their School Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi and many teachers. The Heritage walk was also conducted.

Class X students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School visited ‘Maturshi'-old age home for a social cause. They donated gifts, clothes etc. to the old people residing there. They conducted various programmes to entertain the old people. People there were touched by seeing the love & affection of the students & blessed them for the same. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi and the senior staff put on the efforts to conduct such trip for the social cause along with the collaboration with Lions club members, Nagpur.

Spell-BEE Competition

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School had organised spell-bee competition for classes III & IV on 15 th September 2012. The program was conducted under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi also with the special support of HOD of English Dept. Ms. Asha Rai. The program was judged by Ms. Asha Rai, Miss. Arefa Siddique and Mrs. Tejinder K. Bhatti. The competition was conducted by Mrs. Sukhvinder K. Saini and Mrs. Poonam Somkuwar. 3 Students from each house and 3 students from each section were selected. In all 15 students from class III and 12 students from class IV participated. In this competition 3 rounds were held – (1) Spelling Test [Dictation], (2) Missing letters & (3) Jumbled letters. For spelling test words were taken from their English course book. Students who qualified in 1 st round, were selected for the 2 nd round and like wise for the 3 rd & Final round. 3 Winners from Class III & Class IV were selected by Judges.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School Public school celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas' on 14 th September as a mark of respect to the National Language. Programme began by lighting of the traditional lamp and offering flowers to Goddess Saraswati. Students of VII Std. had organized various programmes like reciting of poetry, speeches & debate to inculcate the habit of Hindi speaking. Hindi teachers worked hard to make the programme a great success. Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi in her speech motivated the students for the same. Pola & Fancy Dress Competition

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School celebrated ‘Pola' with religious fervour and also had organised a “Fancy Dress Competition” recently. Students of Std. I, II & III participated, students depicted themselves as Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, Jhansi Ki Rani, Chocolate, peacock etc. Students dressed as Peacock and Chocolate were selected as the best dressed students.

A bullock (Wooden OX) race was also organised for the little angels of Std. I, II & III. Students brought well decorated bullocks to the school. The best participants were declared as winners. Certificates were awarded to the winners. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi congratulated the winners for the same.

        


Story Telling Competition

A Story Telling Competition was held in the school for students of Std. IV & V. In all 24 students participated. Students narrated different types of stories. Six students were announced as winners from Std IV & V. Miss. Arefa Siddiqui conducted the proceedings. Mrs. Simran Kaur and Mrs. Reena Manglani (Pre-Primary) judged the programme. Miss. Arefa Siddiqui and Mrs. Bhagyashree Siriah were incharge teachers.

Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School to inculcate the feeling of patriotism amongst the students. The flag was hosted at the hands of the Secretary Sir S. Parshan Singhji Kalsi & President S. Gurbux Singhji Lamba of the Sikh Education Society. Various cultural events were organised by the students to mark the occasion. Students paid their homage & tribute to the Martyrs. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi in her speech guided the students how to secure the future of India. Secretary sir motivated students in his speech and stressed upon good qualities and urged them to inculcate these values in their day to day lives. All the esteemed dignitaries of Sikh Education Society & Dr. Jaspal Singh Saluja Principal Guru Nanak School graced the occasion.


Rakhi Making Competition

Rakhi Making competition was organised in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School recently. Event was organised by Mrs. Sunita Naidu, Mrs. Archana Lal and Mrs. Jasmeet Budhraja. All the students of classes VI to X participated in the event. Competition was judged by Mrs. Kulvinder K. Madne. Winners were – Arushi Meshram VI-A, Satish Sarode – VI-B, Nehal Kubade VI-C, Aniruddha Zodape – VI-D, Shibani V. Janmashtami Celebrated with great zeal

Festival of Janmashtami was celebrated in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Mrs. Archana Joshi. Speeches were given by Jasmine Dhantule and Yashraj Singh, students of class VIII. A bhajan and a wonderful dance was performed by the primary students. A scene of Dahi Handi was depicted by the students of class X. The program was compered by Sakshi Bawangade. An advisable speech was given by the Principal, Mrs. Archana Joshi in which she told the students to have faith in Dharma and follow the path shown by Lord Krishna. Mrs. Ramalaxmi, Mrs. Mousumi Dasgupta, Mrs. Chetna Bajaj, Mrs. Sangeeta Bhattacharjee, Miss Rakhi Gaikwad, and all the participants worked hard for making the program successful.


“Inter School Singing Competition”

A Singing Competition was organised by Rajaram Dixit Library, Nagpur ‘On occasion of ‘Freedom Fighter Week' on 8 th August-2012. The Singing Competition was based on Patriotic theme. In all 27 schools participated in this Singing Competition. The choir group of our school bagged 4 th position in ‘Marathi Patriotic Song' (Ushakal – Hota-Hota-Kal-Ratra-Jhali). After the competition the judges and the organizer appreciated that the song was sung by Non Marathi School students. Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers Incharge.


Girls Won Chess Championship

Girls of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School were victorious in the 4 th St. Vincent Pallotti Inter-School Chess Championship that concluded recently. The meet was organized by Pallotti School in association with Nagpur Taluka Chess Association(NTCA). In the High School girls category four SGHPS girls amassed a total of 15.5 points with Kalpesha Borkar contributing maximum 5 points. Karunashri Labba, Akshada lal and Ishani Jain scored 4, 3.5 and 3 points resp. St. Vincent Pallotti School finished at second spot tallying 13 points. Principal Mrs. Joshi praised girls and PTI Mr. J. John for the success.


Boys Won Football Tournament by 4 – 0

In recently held Inter – school Football tournament organised at YMCA ground, solid win was grabbed by the boys of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School by beating Omkarlal High School by four – zero. Prajwal Dhuriya played a force full game by achieving 3 goals alone & one goal was achieved by Harpreet Singh.


Inter School Swimming Competition

In Interschool Swimming competition organised by DSO (District Sports Org.) Nandita Ambade Std. VII student of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School secured 2 nd place beating University Students. Competition was held at NIT Pool, Ambazari, Nagpur. Nandita participated in Breast Stroke for 50m and 100m and she was selected for 50m and 100m competition for division level to be held in Wardha.


Science Exhibition

Science exhibition was organized in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School recently. Students of middle and high school participated and made working models. Mrs. Asha Raman and Mrs. Arti Gawande of B.K.V.V. judged the models and declared – Hydrolic arm & Human excretory system as the best models. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers Mrs. Padma Sakhare, Mrs. Vinita Bansal, Mrs. Charu Tikkeker, Mrs. Surekha Waghchaure and congratulated the winners.


Geography Exhibition

Geography exhibition was organised in Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School recently. Students of middle and high school participated in the exhibition. HOD of Social Science department Mrs. Mitalee Mukherjee judged the exhibition. She appreciated the students efforts. Principal Mrs. Archana Joshi congratulated the winners and the incharge teacher Mrs. Jyoti Gupta.


Mental Maths Quiz

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School had organized a Mental Maths Quiz for classes I, II and III on 17 th July 2012. The program was conducted under the guidance of Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi along with the special support of H.O.D. of Maths department Mrs. Prerna S. The program was judged by Mrs. Priya Sehgal and Quiz was conducted by Mrs. Rashmi Mathur and coordinator Mrs. Bhagyashree Phule. The activity was designed through Power Point Presentation. This mental activity had been organized for mental growth of children, to enhance their level and to generate ability amongst them in an entertaining way. The activity was designed in such a way that children had fun in Maths Subject.

The Sikh Education Society continues its trend of honouring the meritorious students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School , under whose banner the school runs . Harshal Yadav notched top postion in Std. X CBSE exams by scoring 95.4 % Ashiwini Gondane & Prabhot Wankhede shared second position with 94.8% , Aniksh Badole & Vibhor Meshram shared the third position with 94.6 % . Secretary of the Sikh Education Society S Parshan Singh Kalsi (Ex.M.L.C) President of the society S Gurbux Singh Lamba felicitated the toppers by giving them cash prizes in Gurudwara Gyan Prakash on Sundary 2 nd June 2012. They also motivated & blessed them for bringing laurels to the Institution.Mrs. Archana Joshi Principal of the school, Dr. Jaspal Singh Saluja Principal Guru Nanak High School & other esteemed dignitaries of The Sikh Education Society & senior staff members graced the occasion with their presence.


Result 2011-12

The Sikh Education Society's Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School once again maintained the legacy of 100% result in Std. X in CBSE EXAM 2011-12. Out of 111, 90 students are in distinction, remaining 21 are in First class, 34 students are in merit, 29 students have scored 90% & the least % in 65.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The investiture ceremony of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School was held in the school premises recently. An impressive ceremony was organised with all its grandeur for the installation of Head Boy – Victor Joseph, Head Girl - Sahili Chavhan, Captains & Vice-Captains of various Houses. Red House Captain – Swechha Moon, Red House Vice-Captain – Aniket Rahate, Blue House Captain – Sakshi Gajbhiye, Blue House Vice-Captain – Abhishek Dongre, Green House Captain – Purvesh Shende & Green House Vice-Captain – Ketan Bagde. House Mistresses – Mrs. Arcnana Lal, Mrs. Archana Shende & Mrs. Rashmi Sahni were also felicitated. The Chief Guests Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi (Ex. M.L.C.) – Secretary of Sikh Education Society, Sardar Gurbux Singhji Lamba President of Sikh Education Society, Mrs. Archana Joshi Principal Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School handed over the flags, sashes & badges. Sardar Parshan Singhji Kalsi enlightened the students, inspired them with his motivating speech & instructed them to perform their duties well. President Gurbux Singhji Lamba congratulated the newly appointed leaders & other team members. Madam Archana Joshi spoke about the importance of democracy & also motivated the students. Mrs. Asha Rai conducted the proceedings & Mr. Arvind proposed a vote of thanks. PTI's Mr. Joseph John & Mr. Salim worked hard to make the programme a great success.


Heritage club
A Report

“Culture plays a very important role in the development agenda of any nation.”

Keeping the above –mentioned facts in mind, a “Heritage Club” was formed. The occasion was formation of various clubs in the school where formal announcement was made to appoint various office-bearers. A committee comprised of President, Secretary & large number of executive members was announced under the supervision of teacher-incharge Mrs. M. Mukherjee.
Speeches were delivered. Later members showing various heritage sites in and around Nagpur on placards came on the centre-stage & spokesperson of the club read out the significance of the site. Various activities for the calendar year were announced.
At the end of the function a pledge was taken by the members of the club for the protection & conservation of our “Heritage” & “Culture”.

ECO-CLUB
A Report

        

“Biodiversity constitutes the framework in which variety of life forms can coexist. Development due to technology has influenced life styles of people. As a result, we have experienced disturbances in nature”.
To participate and popularize the awareness through optimum use of formative tasks, An ‘Eco-Club' was formed. The occasion was the formation of various clubs in the school where formal announcement was made to appoint various office bearers. A committee comprised of President, Secretary and a large number of executive members was announced under the supervision of teacher – incharge Mrs. Jyoti Gupta.
Speeches were delivered. A poem was recited by the student. A song sung by the Chair group and a dance having the concept of ‘National integration' as well as the happiness during harvest festivals of different states was depicted by the students. Later members with various captions on increasing awareness and need of biodiversity as an essential natural, national and global resource came on the stage. In this way students along with the teachers have participated to save life. The first step was taken as the plantation in the school. Saplings were planted by Gen. Secretary Sir Shri Parshan Singhji Kalsi, Principal Madam Mrs. Archana Joshi and various guests invited from Lions Club of Nagpur. An idea was spread –

‘Plant today to live tomorrow'.

At the end of the function, an appeal was made by the members of Eco-club for the protection and conservation of plants, nature and environment. Students shouted with slogans – ‘Nature protects if she is protected'.

Formation of Health & Wellness-Club (2012-13)
A Report

Considering the importance of physical sound health and metal zest of the school children which has a significant effect on their learning and long term success, the “Health and Wellness Club” was constituted.

The occasion was formation of various clubs in the school where formal announcement was made to appoint various office bearers of the “Health and Wellness Club”.

The club comprises of a president, a secretary snd three executive members under the guidance of the teacher – incharge Mrs. Charu Tikekar.

On this occasion a speech was delivered by Ms. Toshi Meshram. Posters and Charts depicting relevant aspects, made by school students were exhibited.

Good habits inculcated in children at early age will go a long way in getting good citizens to our country.

It is truly said that “Healthy bodies have healthy minds”.
